Recently, I kept seeing this photo of Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z front and center at the NBA All Star game; and this is what popped into my head every time I saw it: What the hell was she thinking when she put on those shoes?

I get that this superstar singer is sitting in the front row at a nationally-televised sporting event, and photos of her ensemble are going to show up in every tabloid across the country. I also get that between VIP entrances and private elevators, she likely didn’t have to walk through an entire arena on six-plus-inch heels to get to her seat. And I get that, fashion-wise, these shoes are works of art—stunning, really–and make Dorothy’s ruby slippers look like bedroom slippers. But, come on: Aren’t sparkling Louboutin pumps just a tad fancy for bball?

I pondered all of this until my fashion guru, Sasha Charnin-Morrison at Us Magazine, informed me that the shoes are hand-embedded with Swarovski crystals and cost nearly $6,000. And then I just didn’t have any more words. Except this: If you’ve shelled out the equivalent of a small car for a pair of pumps, perhaps it is best to wear them everywhere and get your money’s worth.
