green (and gold) with envy

Harper’s Bazaar does a brilliant job each month scouting the style scene for their Editor’s Notes section. Each page has a theme. Each theme comes with items. Fashionable items. Items I want, but don’t necessarily want to pay for. Like: a Derek Lam cross-body bag for $4,890. (And no, I did not put the decimal point in the wrong place.) Or, a gold cuff by Tom Ford…for $3,850. Cuff…as in handcuff…because the only way I’d own that bracelet is to steal it.

So month after month, I’ve found myself playing what I call the can-I-find-these-cheaper? game. Most of the time, I win.

And this week, so can you….

Stella McCartney silk dress; $389, www.farfetch.com

Sparkle cuffs; $22, www.edressme.com

Premium dome ring; $50, www.topshop.com

So…here’s my question for you: Do you own any MAJOR green items in your wardrobe? I’m not referring to a touch of emerald here and there (a clutch, say, or a necklace); but rather, a significant investment of your hard-earned green in a coat, everyday leather handbag, or pair of boots? Has green become a basic? Do tell….
