i’ve got a wedgie!

The object of my desire

Ever see a celebrity wear something that you just have to have? (Yeah, I know. Stupid question.) And then you read the caption on the photo and find out that you’d need to buy a winning Lotto ticket to afford the look? Happens to me all the time…thank you Jennifer Aniston and your Stuart Weitzman “Alex” wedges. I swear the woman is trying to taunt me, because she’s been photographed in these stunning braided espadrilles over and over again since the summer of ’09. (And when have you seen a celebrity wear something more than once, let alone two years in a row?)

Let me be clear: It’s not that I can’t afford the $375 for these babies…it’s that $375 seems ridiculous for a pair of ropey summer sandals. So I’ve held off. I was moaning about this while sitting in Amy Quackenbush’s chair (my Seattle hairdresser who loves celebrity fashion as much as I do), when she confided that she’d bought some lookalikes from Rampage for about $30. Naturally, I zipped straight over to DSW and picked up a pair of these comfy doppelgangers for myself. I must say, they’re close enough to Jen’s that I’ve decided to shed my black mourning clothes. (And they’re available online; do a Google search for “Rampage Flynn.”

…and the shoe that pacified me

So, I know it’s the end of summer, but something tells me that my celebrity friend will be wearing those wedges again next year—which means my Rampages will still be perfectly in style. And you? What paparazzi number are you pining for? Tell me, so I can pine with you (or maybe find you a knockoff!)….

Ok, I’m finding that I can comment on almost everyone one of your posts – I LOVE THIS BLOG!!! Thanks for this cute wedge tip. I found something similar that had a wrap ankle wedge at Target a few years ago and I always got so many compliments on those dern $19.99 shoes! Anyway, I wanted to say that my fav magazine is “Lucky”. This Septembers issue has so many incredible ‘must-haves’ that I almost used all of the “Yes” stickers that come inside the magazine to mark the items you want to rememeber.(another reason I love that magazine – I thought of that idea years before Lucky came out and used to muck-up my magazines with sticky notes all the time) Anyway, you have to check out the Ads for both KMart and Sears in this issue. I’m tellin’ ya, if you covered up the store name, you would never know that the cute outfits came from those stores. In fact, I have to say that I have never even purchased one piece of clothing from KMart in my life but this ad interested me enough to go check it out. Also the Sears Ad had a few cute things and even though my little small town Sears doesn’t carry these lines in their store, I may hit another one in Belligham or south one of these days. Cute Cargo pants, maybe a military inspired vest – we’ll see once I see them in person. Just a little tidbit back atchya.
