right on target
Have you noticed lately that whenever a new shopping center goes up, its name always begins with the words The Shops At…? (Go ahead: Google the phrase and you’ll see what I mean.)
I think the marketing strategy has something to do with the fact that The Shops At sounds a hell of a lot swankier than Mall. Let’s try it….
“The Shops at Wailea”
“Wailea Mall”
Which one do YOU think has a Gucci?
Because I’m as swayed by the swank factor as everyone else, I took notice when I received a press release announcing Target’s latest designer partnerships with Cos Bar (luxury bath items), Privet House (antique-y home goods), Webster Miami (tropical resort wear); The Candy Store (famous San Francisco candy “boutique”), and Polka Dog Bakery (one-stop shopping for man’s best friend). Guess what they’re calling this mega launch?
The Shops at Target.
I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peak at what I think is a crazy-cool collection of affordable clothing for men and women…home accessories…and treats for humans and canines. I’m sharing it here with you– even though that may mean a fight at the Target doors when the introduction launches on Sunday, May 6th.
From Webster Miami…
I made the mistake of sending the Look Book to my son, Adam, from whom I received the following email shopping mandate:
Mom–
THINGS I LOVE 🙂
Tshirt in Look 29
Shorts in Look 30
Shirt in Look 31
Tank and Shorts in Look 33
Shirt in Look 34
Shirt in Look 35
Love, Adam
From Privet House…
From Cos Bar…
From The Candy Store…
From Polka Dog Bakery…
And that’s just a sampling, folks.
See you on May 6th. I’ll be the one at the front of the line. (Unless that woman who scooped up all the Missoni stuff decides to turn up again.)

Love, love, love! I’ve never successfully made it to any of these Target designer ‘launches’ before but I’ve put May 6 on my calendar. Do all Targets have these items available?
PS I love your blog Hillary!

Thanks, Lisa! Yes, as far as I know, all Targets will be carrying these items. Let us know if you end up buying any of the collections….:)

Arrived about 8:30 this morning and picked up a few items from ‘The Shops’…really wanted to see the shoes shown above but I couldn’t find them anywhere. May print out the photo above and bring it with me if I can make it back to Target tomorrow. Darling navy lace skirt and some other sandals not shown above. Actually purchased a pair for one daughter’s birthday but younger daughter saw them first and somehow convinced me that she should have them! Had to go back and buy a second pair–last one in her size so they went fast!

It looks like the shoes are available online. I went to Target today, too, and bought Adam his “wishlist” of items–I saw that navy lace skirt you mentioned and it is ADORABLE. Thought about buying it, but held off. I did, however, spring for the gold sand dollar earrings…they’re beautiful (and $14.99!).
Oddly enough, I went mid afternoon and the store was empty…and full stock of everything. A first for me at Target!
