something to tweet about

I don’t know about you, but there aren’t many birds in my wardrobe. Well, not now anyway. There was a brief preppy moment in high school, during which time I was known for sporting the occasional mallard. But aside from that, I’ve been fairly detached from the aviary movement.

And yet, I’ve decided to give it another chance. Seems the bird-print clothing trend we saw in Spring/Summer 2010 has hatched again for 2011—but in ways that actually make me want to flock to the nearest mall. Since I’m of the mindset that fleeting trends call for frugal pricing, I’m happy to report that I’ve found birdie bargains all over town.

Completely cute--but at $175, I'm too chicken to spring for Tory Burch espadrilles.

For the birds? Kate Spade's Bon Shopper tote; $145.

Leifsdottir Aviary skirt was $248; now $147 at www.nordstrom.com

Easier to swallow: Juicy Couture's Bird's Nest charm; $48 at www.bloomingdales.com

Featherweight jersey top from Free People; $41.99, www.bluefly.com

Rachel Roy ring to perch on your finger; $38, www.macys.com

Bevy of Birds georgette top. "Cheep" at $19.80; www.forever21.com

For your baby bird; $19.95 at www.gap.com

Happy as a lark to find this One Clothing dress for $12.99; www.macys.com

The sweetest mugs EVER--a wise purchase at 4 for $40; www.potterybarn.com

Gotta admit, I’m kind of liking the look. Does it fly with you?

    Hey Hillary,
I have a make-up question. Where do I write or email Maybelline? They replaced superstay with super stay 24 hour and I have bought 3 worthless colors thinking they would be the same as my favorite which is#725 in the original superstay. You know how hard it is to find the perfect red and you know how I am about red lipstick!
